The GREAT Initiative is a brand new charity foundation focussed towards issues of gender imbalance in Africa. We are very keen to see what the reach and impact of this new foundation will be, but what is for sure is that this is no small scale project.

The Patrons of the foundation include:

The rock stars Bono, Annie Lennox, and Damon Albarn – all of whom have already demonstrated their commitment to Africa’s issues over many years – and our very own Anjelique Kidjo; from the world of film, Mia Farrow and Rene Zellwegger; the supermodels Elle MacPherson and Naomi Campbell; and many of the world’s more significant politicians and campaigning figures, including Africa’s first female President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf of Liberia, three times Nobel Peace Prize nominee Scilla Elworthy, Ireland’s Lady Trimble and France’s former Minister of Culture Jaques Lang.
