Cheetah, Tarzan’s original Chimpanzee costar, dies at 80.

Cheetah, also referred to as Cheeta, died of kidney failure on 24 December.

Chimpanzees in zoos typically live 35 to 45 years but Cheeta was cited in The Guinness Book of Records as the world’s oldest non-human primate. He outlived both the star of the Tarzan series Johnny Weissmuller and the actress Maureen O’Sullivan, who played Jane.
