‘Lost Kingdoms of Africa’ series two – starts tonight on BBC Four

Tonight the first episode of the second series of ‘Lost Kingdoms of Africa’ is being broadcasted in the UK on BBC Four at 9 pm.

‘Lost Kingdoms of Africa’ looks at the little known history of Africa and explores some of the richest and most vibrant histories in the world.

It is sad that we know less about Africa’s distant past than almost everywhere else in the world, as it certainly doesn’t lack history.

The first series, which was broadcasted in 2010 and which became one of the highest rated programs ever, included episodes in which art historian Gus Casely-Hayford explored the old African Kingdoms of Nubia and Ethiopia.

In this second series Casely-Hayford will reveal fascinating stories of four more complex and sophisticated civilizations starting with the Kingdom of Asante, followed by the Zulu Kingdom, then the Berber Kingdom of Morocco and finally, closer to home,  Uganda’s two great Kingdoms: Bunyoro & Buganda.
