Lady Lori was proud to contribute towards the launch of The GREAT Initiative (the Gender Rights & Equality Action Trust), a new Africa focussed charity foundation that Marc Carter, a regular client of Lady Lori is a Trustee of, along with UK broadcaster Mariella Frostrup, human rights lawyer Jason McCue, and philanthropist Karen Ruimy.
The event raised a fabulous £500,000.00 to help underwrite the costs of a number of projects in Africa that are focused towards raising awareness of issues of gender inequality, or actual projects on the ground – and we are very happy that Lady Lori’s donation to the evening’s fund-raising auction contributed to the monies raised.
Here are some photographs of some of GREAT’s guests attending the launch event; all of whom have who helped to raise such a amazing sum of money. They are, in order of display:
The four Trustees of GREAT (from the left; Marc Carter, Mariella, Karen and Jason); Mariella Frostrup overseeing proceedings; the UK’s Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg and his wife Miriam Gonzales; the Oscar winning actor Colin and his wife Livia; the supermodel Laura Bailey, Eric Fellner and former Prime Minister’s wife Sarah Brown; Livia Firth, Karen Ruimy and Mariella; the actor Cuba Gooding Jnr; Colin Firth and Jason McCue; Jemima Khan; Laura Baily and the acclaimed portraitist Jonathan Yeo, Jonathan Yeo; Mariella and Sarah Brown; and esteemed fashion and textile designer Helen David (of English Eccentrics) and her husband Colin.
