In this latest music album, Congolese musical sorcerer Baloji has conjured up his own world in which the rhythms of traditional Africa, the beats and rhymes of US hip hop, the swagger of Congolese dandies and the imagery of mysticism and black magic come alive.
Baloji Tshiani was born in Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of Congo, in 1978, but grew up in Belgium from the age of 3.
He was introduced to hip hop and immersed himself in the albus of Nas, Mobb Deep and Notorious BIG and began rapping himself, joining the crew Starflam in the late 90’s.
On Kinshasa Succursale, Baloji wanted to go deeper into his Congolese roots and produce and album infused with soukous, rumba and mutuashi.
